Info flyer from Animal Kingdom Lodge check-in

Here's an unusual piece! It's the information flyer from Animal Kingdom Lodge--the one given to guests at check-in. The flyer is actually four pages (two leaves printed front and back), but only the front page is visible here. The complete flyer is inside the frame. This flyer was obtained during check-in at AKL in May 2005.

The flyer is framed under a double mat consisting of a tan overmat and a brown undermat. There is a fairly wide border between the over- and undermat which works to add to the visual appeal of the piece.  The old wooden frame was originally finished in gold paint. This was smoothed and overpainted with a rich green paint so that the gold is still randomly visible through it. Finally, it was given a coat of dark wood stain to complete the finish. The result is quite interesting--and very attractive. The visible image area measures 7-3/4 x 10-1/2", while the visible glass area measures 12-1/2 x 15-1/2". The outer edges of the frame measure 14-1/2 x 17-1/2". The back has a wire hanger installed and green felt pads at the lower corners to protect your wall. This piece will hang safely from a single hook or nail.

Aronda envisions this as a "study" piece--perfect for an office or study--though it would look nice anywhere. Because it contains much "readable" material, it just seems that it lends itself to a quiet place where it will invite a more detailed inspection.
