Captain's Grille
(photos below)
"Where a great meal is always on the horizon."
Captain's Grille is the large table service eatery located
in Disney's Yacht Club Resort--just down the hall from the
very upscale Yachtsman Steakhouse. This restaurant was known
at Yacht Club Galley until early 2008 when it closed for a
short time and reopened at Captain's Grille. Aronda has eaten
here while it was under both names, and she doesn't see that
much has changed beyond the name.
The food here is great, the prices reasonable, and it's
hardly ever busy--making walk-up seating easy, even as the
Dining Plan continues to cause long waits at so many
restaurants on property. The close proximity to Epcot (just a
few minutes away from the International Gateway entrance in
the rear of Epcot) makes this one a nice place for a quiet
lunch or dinner away from the crowds.
Captain's Grille really shines at lunch! The menu includes
quite a variety of items, and there are several sandwiches to
choose from. Despite the nautical theme of the resort (and
indeed, the restaurant itself), there are many options here
for those who don't care for seafood, in addition to a nice
compliment of ocean-oriented dishes. The ambience is cool,
quiet, and very open, while at the same time very relaxed--no
stuffy "dress code" here!
To get to Captain's Grille, just go to the lobby of the
Yacht Club--it's right off the lobby at the beginning of a
corridor that leads around to Yachtsman Steakhouse and finally
to Stormalong Bay pool. It's easy to locate, and easy to love!
Captain's Grille honors the Disney Dining Experience card, so be
sure to show yours if you have one to save 20% off your bill
(before gratuity).
