The Winter 2009 edition of the Disney Files magazine, the official Disney Vacation Club member periodical, recently announced some "enhanced perks" that are good in January 2010 ONLY. Here they are:

• Curl by Sammy Duvall store on Pleasure Island--Continued 10% savings on merchandise (excluding sale items). As an added bonus for the new year, members who spend $100 or more will get a free T-shirt (a $22 value).

• Sammy Duvall water sports activities before noon: Savings of 20% (10% savings still in effect after noon). Call 407-939-0754 for reservations.

• House of Blues, Downtown Disney West Side--Lunch and dinner discount increased to 20% (from 15%), excluding alcohol, tax and gratuity.

The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) publishes periodic "Portable Perks" for members vacationing at Walt Disney World. Below, you'll find most of the privileges and discounts DVC members may access during their trip. Though many of the perks last all year, the list to follow is correct through December 2009

You no longer have to pay the daily high-speed Internet charge at any Disney Vacation Club Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort when you book your stay with Member Services using your Membership.

Children's Activity Centers

DVC members receive a 10% discount at Children's Activity Centers at WDW. Kids ages 4-12.

Children's Activity Centers are available at five locations: Cub's Den at Wilderness Lodge, Mouseketeer Clubhouse at the Grand Floridian, Neverland Kids Club at the Polynesian, Sandcastle Club at the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, and Simba's Clubhouse at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Hours of operation are 4:30 p.m. until midnight daily. Discount is limited to three children per member. Children must stay for a minimum of two hours. Participating children must be potty-trained, and no pull-ups are allowed. For Activity Center reservations, call 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463).

Member Freebies

• Fitness center use is complimentary for Members at the WDW resort hotel at which they are staying and at any DVC resort. Fitness facility access does not include spa facilities.
• Valet parking is complimentary for Members at Disney's BoardWalk Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Disney's Contemporary Resort (starting Aug. 4). Parking is not available for Theme Park access.
• DVD rental is free for Members staying at any DVC resort.
• Members no longer pay the daily in-room high-speed Internet access charge when staying at any Disney Vacation Club Resort when you book your stay with Member Services using your Membership.

Pool Hopping

You and any guests staying with you at Old Key West, BoardWalk, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, Saratoga Springs, or Animal Kingdom Villas, Bay Lake Tower, or Vero Beach are permitted to use other DVC and WDW resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the hotel at which you're staying) if they are not at capacity. If the pool you're visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that hotel. Please check with a host/hostess at the front desk of the resort you wish to visit to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current "Key to the World" card with the DVC Member designation on it to use other resort hotel pools.

Pool hopping is not available at Uzima Pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay, the leisure pools at the Yacht & Beach Club, Samawati Springs Pool at Kidani Village, and Bay Cove Pool at Bay Lake Tower. There are no exceptions to this policy.

As a reminder, during times of high occupancy, please be mindful of the limited number of pool chairs available, and refrain from leaving towels/personal items on unoccupied pool chairs.

Due to expected high occupancy, DVC Members may not "pool hop" July 1-5, 2009, September 4-7, 2009, November 23-29, 2009, and December 12, 2009-January 3, 2010. (Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.)

Welcome Home Wednesdays

You're invited to join us for Welcome Home Wednesdays, a celebration for Members held most Wednesdays at 4:00 P.M. at Atlantic Dance Hall in Disney's BoardWalk entertainment district.

For a price of $50, DVC members hoping to work their magic on the links can purchase a DVC Annual Golf Membership.

Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course

Disney Vacation Club Golf Membership cardholders can now hit the links of Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course at a discounted rate of $20 per 9-hole round! Ideal for a family outing or a quick nine, this par-36 walking course winds through a natural setting rich with deer, wild turkeys, and other birds and wildlife.

Become a Walt Disney World Passholder

DVC members and their immediate family residing in the same household are eligible to receive discounts on select WDW Annual and Premium Annual Passes. Passholders enjoy unlimited admission to all four Theme Parks 365 days a year, as well as special perks and offers.

Passes can be purchased at any Guest Relations location in all four Theme Parks and the Downtown Disney area. You must present your DVC member ID card and ALL ADULTS must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household to purchase or redeem this offer. Limit of eight Annual Passes per household, per year.
