Family Fun Day Parade
(photos below)
This afternoon parade at the Magic Kingdom was introduced
as a part of the entertainment offerings associated with the Year
of a Million Dreams celebration. It's a short, fairly
casual affair, though it does include The Main Street
Philharmonic band.
The parade is patriotic--like a small town July 4th
celebration from the past. In keeping with the Year of a
Million Dreams concept, a few park guests are selected to
participate in this event. Participation includes marching in
the parade down Main Street U.S.A. and acting in the
festivities at Town Square, where the parade ends.
The parade itself includes dancers, a few characters
(including Pluto!), but only a few floats (the vintage fire
engine sometimes seen on Main Street U.S.A. is the main one),
and lasts only a few minutes. A big draw for many is the
marching band performance--the bright, cheery music is always
a pleasure to hear--and a nice feature of this event is that
the band continues to play for a while after the event itself
is complete.
While this parade may be of interest to those with
youngsters in their parties, it should be considered a minor
event--we don't recommend missing out on preferred
entertainment to take this one in!! However, if checking out
an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration sounds like fun to
you, you may want to work this into your touring schedule.

"lead" character for the Family Fun Day Parade

The parade ends at Town
Square. Note the big drum on wheels in the background.

Even on a weekend, there
was plenty of available space to view the parade around Town
Square

The marching band plays at
the base of the flagpole in Town Square

After the parade
festivities are finished, the band continues to play for a
while longer
