Golden Oak Outpost
(photos below)
Located in the Frontierland area of the Magic Kingdom,
across from the side entrance to Pecos Bill's Tale Tale Inn
and near Splash Mountain, is the Golden Oak Outpost. Formerly
Frontierland Fries, this fresh incarnation of an eatery
features a more expansive menu than the "fry
cart"--an old wagon which was little more than a
"vehicle" to deliver McDonald's French Fries to
Guests.
The coolest item here is the fried chicken sandwich--a
tasty dish, and one which is very hard to find at Walt Disney
World. Several flatbreads are also on the menu here, along
with three dessert choices (which is more than you'll find at
many counter service eateries in WDW!).
Because of its location across from Pecos Bill's, there's
plenty of indoor seating for this one, even though at first
glance it appears that there are only a half-dozen outdoor
tables serving Guests here. After getting your food, walk
across the street and into Pecos Bill's side door to find lots
of tables in an air conditioned space!
This is a great restaurant! While it looks like a lesser
counter service place, the menu--and food quality--is quite
decent here!

Ironically, much of the woodwork
at Golden Oak Outpost is...pine??!!
