Hollywood Brown Derby
Many of my vacations are restaurant-driven, and this classy
joint is one of my favorites. A tidy version of its namesake
in the "real" Tinseltown, including the caricatures
of the famous along most of the walls, The Derby's specialty
is the Cobb Salad--and no other salad is quite a filling. I
mean, this baby is huge! With chopped lettuce and parsley,
boiled eggs, bleu cheese, ham, bacon, and more, the salad is
tossed at your table by your server. Other great entrees are
steak, chicken and vegetarian dishes. My favorite appetizer is
the coconut fried shrimp; it's to die for! I just wish the
chef would include a dinner-size sampling on the evening menu.
Many guests rave about The Derby's grapefruit cake, too--so
save room for dessert.

As you
wait to be seated, take a quick look at the lighting fixtures
in the waiting area.
Indeed, you'll find a real Hollywood
brown (bronze) derby.

Dann
and Josh show off their entrees--the famous Cobb Salad and
Grilled New York Strip Steak -
marinated in dark ale with
three sauces and mashed boniato.

Dann
enjoyed Coconut Shrimp with Frisee, bean thread noodles,
mandarin
orange salad, and minted citrus soy dipping sauce as
an appetizer.

nothing better than the Happiest Celebration on Earth!
