Located in Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
(along with the buffet restaurant Boma: Flavors of Africa and
The Mara counter service, Jiko is the best of the three.
Featuring gourmet renditions of African-inspired foods, Jiko
has something on the menu for everyone. Several beef and
chicken entrees, seafood--even vegetarian offerings are sure
to tempt your appetite.
The decor here is contemporary, but with an
appealing "Animal Kingdom Lodgesque" flair,
including woven reed screens and coarse textured fabrics. The
light fixtures above are reminiscent of birds, and the various
sections of the dining area are designated with environmental
monikers and symbology.
Of special interest here is the Jiko Cheese
Selection (learn more about it on our menu
page), including several goat- and sheep's milk specialty
cheeses. Additionally, you'll find the Oak-grilled Filet
Mignon very yummy, with its red wine sauce and mac-n-cheese
that's so very unlike the kind you ate as a kid!
This restaurant reportedly has the largest
selection of South African wines in the US, and we believe it.
The line list is extensive, with examples of many varieties
represented.
This is a very popular restaurant, so be sure
to make reservations if at all possible. The Disney Dining
Experience card is honored here, so if you have one be sure to
show it to save 20% off your check. Since Animal Kingdom Lodge
now has a Disney Vacation Club ell, this restaurant may begin
to give a discount to DVC members, so check your Portable
