Laugh Floor Comedy Club
(Photos below)
This new attraction at Magic
Kingdom replaces The Timekeeper
in Tomorrowland.
On Monday, February 26, 2007, Aronda was
touring the Magic Kingdom when she noticed that the Laugh
Floor was open for a test run. She promptly hopped into line,
and took plenty of photos all the way!
Inside the queue area, the theming is very
similar to that of the Timekeeper
attraction which this show replaces. However, the front queue
area is a shortened portion of the long hallway-style entry
room from Timekeeper. After waiting in the outer queue, Guests
pass through a doorway into the deeper section of the old
queue area, where television sets direct you to send in jokes
over your cellular telephone. The Monsters, Inc. styling is
plentiful here--it seems to have fit nicely into this space.
The premise utilizes the discover made in the
movie by Mike and Sully that human laughter is more powerful
than screams in generating power for the city of Monstropolis.
Instead of the monsters coming to the human world, we humans
can now enter the monster world--and help keep things moving
there with our laughter. That's where the Laugh Floor Comedy
Club comes in!
Going into the theater itself, you'll find it
to be the same shape and size of the Timekeeper theater,
though it's now tiered and there are seats. Lamps at each
bench are decorative touches. The stage is a large screen-type
affair in the front of the theater. At the left side (stage
right, I should say!) is a large video screen on which Roz
appears, interspersed with shots of members of the
audience.
During the show, Mike emcees the production,
and there appear to be three "acts" to the show
itself. The audience-provided jokes are worked in (we suppose
they were actually audience suggestions; perhaps the show has
backups in case no good ones materialize), and members of the
audience interact with the characters, as in Turtle
Talk with Crush. The comedy is fairly funny, though
admittedly corny. It's a good show as it is now, with
continued tweaking, it's sure to be a great one!

CANNING LAUGHTER – The more Walt Disney World guests chuckle during performances of Monsters, Inc.
Laugh Floor Comedy Club, the happier it will make Mike Wazowski, the one-eyed hero from the Disney Pixar
film “Monsters, Inc.” Mike has discovered laughter is stronger than screams as a power source, so he has created the
comedy club as a means to collect laughter.
