Liberty Tree Tavern
(photos below)
This restaurant, located in Liberty Square, is a table
service establishment which brings to life a little
"taste" of the colonial period of United States
history. The setup is a colonial tavern way back in the day,
so to speak. The theming here is terrific, with vintage
decorations and even old wavy, seeded glass in the windows.
Lunch is served as ordered from the menu, while a character
dinner is "all you care to eat" with a few optional
extras in the forms of bottled/specialty drinks and desserts
(cherry pie and ice cream is included).
Liberty Tree has decent food, but it certainly isn't among
the "better" offerings at WDW. In my opinion, the
all you care to eat situation is better than the menu items,
but this is based on a visit in January 2006 at lunch (see
last photo below), as well
as another lunch back when both lunch and
dinner were the same all you care to eat setup. Though I'm not
overly excited about the taste of the food, I am very pleased
with the restaurant itself--do consider stopping by while
visiting the Magic Kingdom. Characters (Minnie, Goofy, and the
crew) appear at dinner only, lunch is character-free.
Please note that this establishment has been in operation
at the Magic Kingdom for quite some time now, and there are a
few "quirks." The main annoyance here is the
restroom facilities. To access them, you go upstairs where
you'll have a nice elevated view of the reception area.
Unfortunately, there's only room for two folks at a time--and
with the popularity of this venue, you may find that there's a
wait for the restroom.
