Mad Tea Party
(photos below)
Here's a terrific little ride tucked into the back of
Fantasyland, near the entrance to Mickey's Toontown Fair. The
ride is based on the Alice in Wonderland film, and it features
spinning teacups. There's a wheel in the middle of each
teacup--turning this wheel increases the rotation of your
teacup.
This is an incredibly fun ride--if you really enjoy spinning!!
If you don't turn the wheel in your teacup, it will spin
around quite slowly--but you'll probably find the ride boring.
I like to spin around as fast as I can--which is really,
really FAST!! The ride is short, just maybe two or three
minutes. This is a little bit like a low-tech Mission:
SPACE, so if your stomach can't handle the spinning, it
may be better to bypass this one. But, if you like the
sensation--by all means get on this!!
In December 2006, I had the good fortune to partake of the
Mad Tea Party with two young nieces (ages 6 and 8). I had
spoken with them about the ride and found them both to be very
interested, especially at the prospect of being in control of
the spinning--the faster the better they said! As we were
waiting in queue with our turn next, I reaffirmed their desire
to spin fast, and spin fast we did! What a lot of fun we
had--a great moment at a great attraction at a great park.
Don't hesitate to give this one a chance on your next visit to
the Magic Kingdom.
