Mama Melrose's
Mama Melrose's is a table service restaurant
located in the Disney-MGM Studios near the Muppet Courtyard. This is a
wonderful establishment with delicious food and fabulous
service.
Themed as a California-based Italian restaurant, the decor
is supposed to look as though a somewhat eccentric California
resident of Italian heritage used what was available to her to
decorate the place. The interior is cool with somewhat dim
"mood" lighting, with wooden floors and tables,
brick walls, and friendly, curtained dividers in the dining
area. It's a very comfortable atmosphere, equally appropriate
for a family meal or a romantic dinner.
The food is fabulous here! There are plenty of flatbread
pizzas from the wood-fired oven, along with pasta dishes sure
to please even the more discriminating palette. A nice
assortment of signature cocktails are available as well.
In the past, Streetmosphere characters would appear from
time to time in the dining room. Louie was frequently seen
talking to the Guests here. We haven't seen any of this
lately, though it can be hit or miss as to whether you'll meet
anyone here--hopefully it's still going on! In fact, the first
time Aronda dined here was back in the summer of 1998. She was
on the Backstage Magic tour, and this was the lunch venue.
Louie and Constance Payne came out to entertain the group
during the lunch, then boarded the bus with the tour
participants to talk about the Streetmosphere concept. Since
then, Aronda has dined here at least a dozen times--she loves
the place, and we bet you will too!
Mama Melrose's honors the Disney Dining Experience card, so be
sure to show yours if you have one to save 20% off your bill
(before gratuity).
One of several really good restaurants at Disney-MGM
Studios, Mama Melrose's is a can't miss if you like Italian
food, or if you're just looking for a new and
interesting restaurant to try out. You owe it to yourself to
try Mama Melrose's on your next visit to the Studios!
