Magic Kingdom's Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It!
Street Party

The Magic Kingdom's newest parade--actually, Disney calls
it a "street party"--is a fairly short piece, but
its execution is lively, engaging, and participatory.

It's called "Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street
Party, and it's performed three times a day, beginning in late
morning, with the third and last performance in early
afternoon. You might consider it a way to gear everyone up for
the main 3:00 parade, but with so many Disney characters
participating in the street party--and the exciting music
accompanying the party--it stands as a "must-see"
performance in its own right.

Here's the set-up. First of all, the musical theme,
"Celebrate You," will have you humming the tune for
most of the day. This song is frequently used as a bridge in
Walt Disney World's commercial promotions, but the message is
positive, almost personal in its effect. Why do you take a
vacation, anyway?

Why, to celebrate you!

And this street party allows you to do just that.

Quite a few new floats have been constructed for this
event, with so many Disney characters riding them. At one
point, around the Cinderella Castle Hub, characters disembark
from the floats and invite you to dance along with theme. Many
parents take their youngsters to the streets and dance with
theme, and it's clear from the smiles on the kids' faces that
they're getting a big kick out of this involvement.

Note that this street party doesn't follow the Magic
Kingdom's traditional parade route. Instead, it starts from
Town Square, then travels up Main Street, U.S.A., then stops
around the Castle Hub.

After the performance, the parade them returns to the back
stage area via Town Square.

The parade also features a live "DJ" who engages
the audience from atop the Mickey Mouse float--and his
performance is just as energizing as the music that
accompanies the event. |
