Sunshine Seasons
According to Eyes and Ears, the Walt Disney World
cast member newsletter, the concept for Sunshine Seasons has
been announced to cast members. Calling the restaurant
"fast-paced and fast-casual," the newsletter states
that this hybrid concept offers the convenience of a
quick-service establishment with unique menu offerings and
ingredients normally associated with more casual table-service
operations. Chefs will cook guest meals in an open, onstage
kitchen so guests can see their selections as they are being
prepared. "The senses should love this area because there
is something for each sense to enjoy," says Chef de
Cuisine Mike Bersell. "Sunshine Seasons takes the open
kitchen concept to a bigger level."
Guests will order their food from five different stations,
then take their selections to a centralized cashier area.
(Sounds as though this concept will make it easier for parties
whose members don't want food from the same place to dine
according to their taste buds. In the old Sunshine Seasons
Food Fair--particularly when only one member of the party had
the bucks to pay--meals from various kiosks had to be paid for
one at a time. This should be so much more convenient.) Food
stations, themed to the different seasons of the year, will
feature video menu boards.
- Autumn: Wood-Fired Grill Shop features a wood-fired
grill and rotisseries producing ancho-rubbed beef with
chimichurri sauce, Moroccan rotisserie chicken, grilled
Atlantic salmon, and more.
- Spring: Soup and Salad Shop features unique soups and
salads inspired by the abundance of growth. Fresh herbs
and veggies from The Land greenhouses will be used.
- Summer: The Asian Wok Shop serves noodle bowls and
stir-fry, along with Mongolian barbecue and wok station.
Also, Mongolian veggie-beef stir-fry, vegetarian noodle
bowl with tofu, and more.
- Winter: The Sandwich Shop serves hearty sandwiches
served on artisan breads, including black forest ham and
salami grinder, turkey muffuletta, grilled veggie Cuban
sandwich, and more. This area will also feature a Bakery
serving muffins, bagels, croissants, danish, desserts,
coffee, and more.
Each food station will offer vegetarian and children's
selections, as well as "grab 'n' go" items.
