Turtle Talk with Crush
This is a fresh, new idea from Disney Imagineering, and
it's one I really like! The setup is an underwater theatre
where an animated Crush--the "hippie" turtle from
the insanely popular Pixar film "Finding Nemo"--hosts
the show and actually interacts intelligently with the
audience. It's really quite amazing to experience, as Crush
takes questions from the audience and answers them. He can
even describe guests ("...you there, in the red flannel
shirt...do you have a question?").
This attraction is part of the so-called "Nemo
overlay" at The Living Seas, now known as The
Seas with Nemo and Friends--a project which
aims to lighten the "less-than-frivolous" atmosphere
in this pavilion. Other aspects of the project include the
Nemo and Friends meet-and-greet in front of the pavilion as
well as the steadily-increasing volume of Nemo-themed
merchandise in the shopping area.
The technology appears to be similar to that of "Pipa"
the talking trash can over in Conservation Station in Disney's
Animal Kingdom, though each of these technologies is quite
unique in many respects. The images in Turtle Talk with Crush
are incredibly detailed--you'll really feel as though you're
talking with Crush himself. Another new attraction has opened
at the Magic Kingdom which uses this same technology. It's
based in the Monsters, Inc. film and known as The
Laugh Floor Comedy Club.
This brand new attraction first appeared in The Living Seas
pavilion in 2004. It's terrific for everyone--not just the
kids. In fact, while I was there, a couple of adults even
proffered questions for Crush!! It's tucked away deep in Sea
Base Alpha, so be sure to stop in to check it out!! Tell Crush
Aronda sent you!!

Here's the entranceway to
Turtle Talk with Crush

You'll
round this corner to enter a darkened theatre designed to look
like the undersea. It's a very convincing show--don't miss out
on this one!
