Tusker House Restaurant
Tusker House is a counter service restaurant
located in the Harambe Village area of Disney's Animal Kingdom
park, just across from Mombasa
Marketplace. The setting is an old village building, and the decor
inside features many African-inspired furnishings. The seating
is largely at long tables where more than one smaller party
can share a common dining space, but there are a number of
smaller, "individual" tables available as well. This
eatery features indoor dining with air-conditioned comfort--a
real convenience in this very warm park!
The food here is quite good for counter
service fare. My favorite menu
item is the fried chicken sandwich--something that's hard to
find at the WDW Resort for some reason. The sandwich includes
a boneless breast filet battered and then fried, served on a
bun with french fries on the side.
When eating here, try to find a table close
to the front windows if possible. You'll get a good view of
the busy village square, and you may just catch an up-close
view of one of the many live performances that occur in
Harambe Village. Of course, you'll be seeing the performance
from the back--but it's a fun thing to be able to watch from a
nice air conditioned seat!
There's also a quick service counter located in the same
building as Tusker House, known as Kusafiri
Coffee Shop & Bakery. At Kusafiri, you can get
pastries and coffee either at the counter in the Tusker House
lobby, or through a window directly to the outside.
