Voyage of the Little
Mermaid
Here's an incredible attraction nestled back in the
Animation Courtyard in the Disney-MGM Studios. This stage show
combines dazzling special effects with both string puppets and
live actors for a visually stunning retelling of the story of
The Little Mermaid. The shows run continuously during the
day--and FastPass is available here.

The corner of the show building.
Notice the FastPass dispensers on the left
side, and the gift shop toward the center.
Upon entering the building, you'll encounter a
"holding" area--a room that's evocative of the
interior of an old wooden ship. Along the walls are various
nautical items, many of which bear labels. These labels were
presumably attached by Ariel herself; although many correctly
identify the articles in question, a few are a bit
"off," much like Ariel's descriptions in the movie
of items she had found.

In the "holding" area
looking out the entrance doors. No, those aren't GHOSTS in
this picture; I just used a long exposure time on the camera
instead of the flash.

In the "holding" area
looking toward the entrance doors to the theatre.
When you're admitted to the theatre, you'll find yourself
delving into the depths of the ocean--for the theatre is
actually "underwater". At the beginning of the show,
notice the spray of water from above, the fog effects, and the
laser lights that give the impression that you're truly below
the waves.

A view of the stage from the
seating area. This one was taken closer to the back
so that a larger area would show in the photo.
The show is a dramatic (and quite coherent) interpretation
of the story of The Little Mermaid. All your favorite
characters are present, including Sebastian the crab,
Flounder, King Triton, Eric, and of course Ursula.
This is a don't miss attraction--so be sure to grab a
FastPass at your earliest convenience!! See it early in the
day so you can hum all your favorite songs from the show all
afternoon!!

This isn't a part of the Voyage of
the Little Mermaid show, but I decided to
include it since it IS a part of the Disney-MGM Studios. This
is the
special holiday-decorated version of the Disney Stars and
Motor Cars Parade--this
is Ariel's unit.
