Name: Writer's Stop
Location: Disney's Hollywood Studios

 Writer's Stop
(photos below)

The Writer's Stop is a bookstore/coffee shop located at Disney's Hollywood Studios near the Streets of America and adjacent to Sci-Fi Drive-In Dine-In restaurant. In fact, the Sci-Fi restaurant reception area opens into the Writer's Stop, so that folks waiting to be seated at the restaurant can browse here until their table is ready.

This shop features a small assortment of books (both Disney-centric as well as some popular general titles) along with Disney videos and audio-CDs, and some souvenir items. Additionally, there's a coffee bar with attendant pastries, biscotti, soft drinks, and related items. A couple of tables and even some sofas and soft seating make this a cozy place to curl up with a mug o' joe and a book.

This is also one of the shops which keeps a supply of medicines and health-related items on hand in case you need them--just ask at the counter as these items aren't on display. Medicinal offerings include headache pills and powders, cough drops and syrups, cold & flu remedies, bandages, and antacid tablets.

Many folks may recall that this was once known as Ellen's Buy-The-Book, based on the store Ellen Degeneres' character worked in the classic ABC television show "Ellen."  Unfortunately, with the demise of "Ellen," so went Ellen's Buy-The-Book store into the pages of Disney history. During its Buy-The-Book days, this store kept a much larger assortment of books on hand, and seemed to be a little bit more "inviting" than it does now. Ellen Degeneres, of course, can still be found at the Universe of Energy pavilion in Epcot, performing in "Ellen's Energy Adventure."

Despite the slightly new theme of this store in its post-Ellen days, and the significant changes in the former New York Street area (now Streets of America), this shop still fits in nicely with the big city motif and is worthy of a look--the coffee really hits the spot, too!!!!

Looking over the offerings on the bookshelf

Plenty of coffee and pastries available here!

A nicely themed shop and a great place to grab some joe after walking around the Streets of America

A "sandwich" sign out front to alert everyone that this one is a "real" store and not just another facade as on the Streets of America
